Friday Playlist: Zombie Apocalypse

Hello, and welcome to Friday's regularly scheduled posting: the Friday playlist! Each week we will choose a theme, pick five songs each and compile them into a lovely playlist for your auditory enjoyment - simple. This week our musical choices are picked to soundtrack a zombie apocalypse, basically the music we think would make you feel like a zombie killing machine and all around bad-ass mother fucker - helping you fend off the undead horde and improving your chances of surviving the end of the world as we know it.

Daisy

1.AC/DC - 'Shoot To Thrill'

OK lets start out with an obvious one. There is a very good reason Iron Man flies around dealing out superhero style justice with this song in the background: it is made for kicking ass. It makes you feel cool, in control and most importantly like you are capable of dealing out a serious can of whoop-ass.

2.Dick Dale - 'Misirlou'

This song needs no words or face-melting guitar solos to make you feel like you're the boss. Put this on and you may be able to convince yourself you are in a Quentin Tarentino film - from then on swift, accurate and intensely gruesome killing will be a piece of cake, the zombies don't stand a chance.

3.Pendulum - 'Witchcraft'

Plenty of Pendulums numbers are great for getting you fired up but this one I think will work particularly well. This bass-heavy classic will get your adrenaline going just long enough to fight your way through a crowd of the infected and the vaguely epic/apocalypse-y lyrics don't hurt either. Plus I used to love this song, oh 2010. O.k I still kind of love it.

4.Rage Against the Machine - 'Killing In The Name'

This song is ANGRY and I there's one emotion you're going to want to be feeling in order to survive the zombie takeover its anger! From the start of the song this manic feeling builds and builds until the last third and that's when you go into full-on, wide eyed, guns blazing, zombie killing action. You're not going to sit around mourning the loss of your friends and relatives, you're going to get your rage on and destroy everything that stands in your way!

5. Edvard Grieg - 'In the Hall of the Mountain King'

An absolutely incredible song most people will have heard hundreds of times without actually knowing the name of. This song, to put it plainly, is the shit. Again this one is all about build up, with the first half slowly building tension, gradually getting louder and faster and louder and faster until BOOM at 1.46 the orchestra explodes! Symbols crashing, violins screeching, voices loud and frantic, your heart is pounding, your mind is racing! Phew, I feel quite worked up just writing this. If this doesn't make you want get up and kick some zombie butt then I honestly don't know what will.

1. Metallica 'My Apocalypse'

All 5 of my songs could have been Metallica because they have countless awesome songs that would be perfect for slaying the undead, but I thought this song fit the theme best considering its title. If I had to choose just one band to listen to during an apocalypse, it would definitely be Metallica.

2.  The prodigy – 'Breath'

I had a hard time picking just one prodigy song because they all make you feel like a badass killing machine, or a Charlie’s angel (as the films are loaded with prodigy tracks). And who doesn't want to feel like a Charlie’s angel?  - They’re beautiful, kick-ass and could probably high kick a zombies head off in one go.

3. Public domain – 'Operation blade (Bass in the place)'

This is the song from the first scene in the film Blade, when blade arrives at a sexy vampire rave and turns all the vampires into ash with silver bullets. The whole films soundtrack is made up of techno and rock tracks that are perfect for killing vampires, so I figured it would be pretty awesome for zombies too. The song starts off like any normal dance track, but at 1:12 the base drops and it really gets the adrenaline pumping and puts you in the zombie killing mood (as I found when it was played during a session of laser shooting).

4. Rammstein – 'Feurer frei'

There’s nothing like a bit of German industrial metal to get you angry and pumped up to kill some zombies in true bad ass style. This song would be perfect for a revenge killing spree of the zombies who turned your friends or family into the undead.

5. Dragonforce – 'Through the fire and flames'

This song includes one of the fastest guitar solos ever – need I say more? This song can only be described as epic, and would definitely make you feel like you were untouchable to the groaning mass of zombies approaching.

Yes, yes we do. Hope you enjoyed this weeks playlist!
